Narberth News and Notes

Road Closures for Friday, 9/29/17

9/28/2017

Picture
If it feels like road crews are working their way through every street in Narberth - that's almost true.  PECO is replacing all the gas lines in the Borough, a process that will literally take years to complete.  They did all of the South side in 2016, and that's why the roads are so freshly paved.  South Essex wasn't dug up or repaved because it's one of the streets with no gas lines.

Utility Line Services is working through neighborhoods of the North side now, replacing the lines and making connections to the homes.  Supervisor, Terry Brookheimer, has been very responsive to requests and questions at:  tbookheimer@ulscorp.com. If there's a gas line on your street, Terry's crew will be there sooner or later.

The project on Haverford Ave, running straight through the downtown, is in the final stages now.  This week, the PECO paving crew has been restoring the six-inch deep trenches from the excavation.  The final steps, milling and paving, could start as soon as October 9 or 16.

Today's closures seemed a little worse than usual because of an emergency gas repair on Woodbine.  Here are tomorrow's road closures:

These roads will be closed to traffic in the morning, but should be open by afternoon:

Haverford Ave from Narberth to Forrest. Cars will use the "Music Fest Detour" through the rear parking lots, while buses and trucks will be let through the construction site.

100 and 200 Blocks of Grayling. This will probably last all morning, with temporary closures of the intersections at Windsor, and Haverford.

Road Closures for Thursday, 9/28/17

9/27/2017

We had a couple of tricky days navigating the roads this week, so the Borough asked me to give everyone a head's up for tomorrow.

Whenever I have updates like this, I'll post them to this web page and to the Narberth Facebook Group.  Check either of those in the future.

Haverford Avenue - will be closed 7am - 9am, from Conway to N. Wynnewood.

Narberth Avenue - "The Hill" and the Bridge will be closed to vehicles from 9am - Noon.

Grayling Avenue - Partially or fully closed Noon - 4pm.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT PROGRAM EVENTS
  • There is no dedicated drop off facility in Montgomery County that accepts Household Hazardous Waste. If you cannot attend a county collection event, please consider asking a friend or neighbor to take the items to the event for proper disposal.
  • Household hazardous waste (HHW) events will be held at different locations throughout the county on specified days between the months of April and October.
  • All collection events will accept HHW only.
  • All collection events will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • On event days, directional signs and volunteers will help the public navigate to the correct entrance of the event and into line.
  • On a typical event, the wait time should be no longer than 30 minutes.
  • Please note that latex paint is not hazardous waste and should not be brought to the collection events.
  • Survey takers will ask you a few short questions while you are in line for the collection to find out which county you live in and how many households (if more than one) you are dropping off.  We encourage attendees to drop off for more households to eliminate longer lines.
  • Please stay in your car for safety reasons and unlock the trunk or any doors necessary to access materials for removal. Event staff will remove your materials and direct you to the exit.

AVAILABLE TO RESIDENTS ONLY
This program is a community service to the residents of Montgomery County and the four Southeastern Pennsylvania County Region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties) only and is not open to businesses, institutions, or industry.
