Spring Sidewalk Festival 2016
Thursday 5/12 - Sunday 5/15
The 2016 Narberth Spring Sidewalk Festival is a weekend full of family-friendly events from May 12-15 in downtown Narberth, PA. The weekend that includes a three-day Sidewalk Sale, an art “scavenger” hunt, and the Narberth Music and Arts Festival.
May is always special in Narberth because the Borough celebrates NarbART month. Shops and restaurants display original artwork, with a common theme, in their windows. This year's NarbART Month has a “Night” theme: think sunsets and starry nights, with night creatures, the moon and constellations. Narberth is also celebrating the Inside Out art exhibit, from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This installation brings reproduction of eleven pieces of art, from inside the museum, outside to the streets of Narberth.
All weekend, people will be able to join in a “scavenger” hunt to find this art all over town. Just get a game card at Sweet Mabel, 235 Haverford Ave, and at many other shops around town. Find as many pieces of art as you can before returning the card to Sweet Mabel, and you’ll be entered into a contest to win “Narberth” gift certificates. There’s no minimum number of pieces you have to find, but your game card must be turned in by the end of the month.
Local merchants will have displays out for the Sidewalk Sale all day, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Friday night, local establishments will have dinner and drink specials to accompany the hunt for the art, plus outdoor live music, if the weather permits. The art exhibits, store sales, dinner and drink specials, plus unique “night”-themed art displayed in shop windows should give you plenty of reasons to join your neighbors for an Friday evening stroll.
On Saturday, May 14, the young Dancexpress dancers will give a performance at 11am at Station Circle, and the sidewalk sale runs all day.
The weekend finishes with a bang on Sunday May 15, with the Narberth Music and Arts Fest from 2pm to 7pm. There will be street food, drinks, and free live music on Haverford Ave. Forrest Ave will become Artists’ Alley, starting at 11am, with many locals artists and artisans offering unique items.
