Your favorite local shops will be holding a sidewalk sale from Thursday to Saturday, with special events each day.  The weekend finishes Sunday afternoon with the year’s first Music & Arts Fest.


Thursday May 1 – Grillin’ & Chillin’

This “happy hour” on Forrest Ave is the kickoff to the Sidewalk Festival weekend.  Take a break from the kitchen and have dinner with your friends and neighbors at a picnic table on Forrest Ave.  John McShea will have a food tent, and there will be a DJ from 5pm to 7pm.


Friday May 2 – First Friday

Enjoy the spring weather and come out for the Borough’s biggest First Friday of the year.  Find food and drink specials, live music, art openings, dessert “on the hill” and open houses in shops around town.  Plus, check out all the window displays featuring original art for Narb-ART Garden Month.

Sweet Mabel Galley and Studio - Always the epicenter of Narberth's First Friday's, Sweet Mabel will be kicking it up a notch for Narb-ART Garden Month. 6-9pm Sweet Mabel celebrates NarbArt Garden month with an opening reception for Ardmore fiber artist Ilene Pearlman and garden themed art from our studio. Our sidewalk's abuzz with a trunk show by Sardine Clothing Co. of Manayunk and music by Jasafar Blue Band. Join us for margaritas, Mexican treats and merriment!

Nannygoat Antiques5 - 9 pm:  Nannygoat Alley Garden Party -  w/wine, cheese and live music by Rick Emory & Friends in the alley!   Have some wine and cheese with them and get yourself that one-of-a-kind item that you only always find in Nannygoat Alley.  

The Handwork StudioDessert on the Hill (cupcakes), plus the 7th Annual Student Art show and Open House.   We are doing a fundraiser called "Banners of Hope" to raise funds for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.  We will be sewing the banners in front of The Handwork Studio. 

Maido! - Stop in Maido for free mini-cupcakes from Twelve Baskets, a unique online cupcakery that specializes in gourmet Asian-inspired cupcakes.

Character Development will be open late, with Sidewalk Sale items outside, and our regular First Friday promotion of 20% off all books between 6 and 8 pm. 

Ann Simon Studio and Gallery (Forrest Ave) - Ann has Spring specials on many originals and prints.  Take home one of her great paintings of Narberth, Philadelphia, and the Jersey Shore.

Narberth Cafe - This Narberth favorite is a family-friendly BYOB on weekend nights.  On Friday and Saturday night this week, they are offering free dessert with every dinner. 

Great American Pub - Come dine alfresco with lemon drop or blueberry-tinis and great dinner specials.  DJ Leon at 10 for drinks and dancing. 

The Greeks - Live music and free beer tasting.  Listen to a jazz trio on the sidewalk from 5-7pm, and sample beers from Lancaster Brewing at The Greeks Next Door. 

McShea's - Live music at 10pm with Vox Prophet

Saturday May 3 – Sidewalk Fest Activities

Sidewalk Sale all day.  Dancexpress has their annual train station circle performance at 11am.  The Borough and the Business Association have a free moonbounce on Forrest Ave between 11am and 3pm.

Mapes is celebrating their 40th anniversary with the Benner Family.  Stop by for great deals in the Mapes sidewalk sale Thursday through Saturday.  On Saturday, Mapes will celebrate 40 years of Benner family ownership with free popcorn, cotton candy, balloons, hot dogs, hamburgers, a raffle for a free grill, giveaways, and more.

Character Development will have a sale all weekend.  10-50% off select books, toys, music, art & stationary.

Sophisticated Secondz - has a 50%-off Winter Clearance all weekend.

Sweet Mabel - 10:30-Noon, Make a one-step mosaic flower pot at Sweet Mabel's sidewalk sale. Cost is $20.

Swan Dancewear Items 20-50% off include select jazz, character, & ballet shoes, hip hop sneakers, and foot undies. Lots of dancewear and yoga wear on sale as well.

Sunday May 4 – Music & Arts Festival

These free family events are local favorites.  Come down from 2pm to 7pm for live music, street food, and fun on Haverford Ave.  Forrest Ave features some of the best local artists and artisans in Artists’ Alley.

Narberth Sidewalk Festivals

Narberth has weekend Sidewalk Sales in the Spring and Fall each year.  Depending on the timing, these are often paired with other weekend events like First Friday celebrations and Music & Arts Festivals to make a weekend-long event.  The 2014 Spring Sidewalk Festival, includes a Sidewalk Sale from Thursday May 1 to Saturday May 3, and the May 4 Spring Music & Arts Festival.

These events are brought to you by the Borough of Narberth, the Narberth Business Association, and many members of the Narberth business community including, Sweet Mabel Gallery and Studio,  McShea’s, and The Greeks.
